susceptibleとvulnerableの使い分け

susceptibleとvulnerable

場面によってはInterchangeable ですが、意味は少し違います。

susceptible はoxford learner's dictionaries によれば
very likely to be influenced, harmed or affected by something

要するに影響を受けやすい、感染しやすい、弱い

ex>People with weak immune systems are more susceptible to bacteria infection.

vulnerable は　weak and easily hurt physically or emotionally

日本語で言えば、脆弱である、傷つきやすい、損傷を受けやすい

The company is in an economically vulnerable position.

susceptible は具体的な何から影響を受けるところに焦点があり、影響を与えているものが何かハッキリとしている印象です。more specificです。
例えば　this machine is susceptible to the cold weather など。

一方でvulnerableの場合、必ずしもそうではなく、主語が弱いというところに焦点が当たっているように感じられます。
なので You must try not to appear vulnerable.　(oxford learner'd dictionariesより) と　具体的に何に対して脆弱なのか言わないこともあります。
